Service to School

In the spring of 2016, I volunteered to coordinate and teach the undergraduate in Applied Technology and Performance Improvement capstone course (LTEC 4741).  In cooperation with Dr. Jeff Allen, I adapted previous course offerings to accomodate a large class load.  The course was delivered through an online setting and had nearly 90 students enrolled.  The course focuses on preparing the senior program graduates to be able to market themselves in the job market as well as show that they have a solid grasp of the program initiatives.

Service to Profession

Beginning in 2016 and continuing through 2018, I served as a reviewer for the Performance Improvement Quarterly journal.  During this time I have reviewed several articles and either recommending them for publication or providing suggested edits before publication.  I believe that the peer review process is essential to proper vetting of scholarly publications.  Serving as a reviewer has also given me the opportunity to learn about the peer review process and has increased my skills as a writer and researcher.

Service to Community

As a human resources professional I have volunteered in my community to assist homeless familes with career counselling and resume preparation.  Securing gainful employment is a critical step in their mission to become self-sufficient.  Additionally, I have worked with local technical schools to provide simulated interviews.  I have also parnered with community organizations to develop job training programs for students wishing to learn skilled trades.

Service to Ecology and Conservation

From my many years of service to the Boy Scouts of America to my time volunteering with local conservation organizations environmental conservation has been a cause near and dear to my heart.  I have worked with such orgatnizations as the Wildcat Glades Conservation & Audubon Center in Joplin, MO and the George Washington Carver Birthplace Association.  I continue to support organizations such as the Tulsa Zoo, Honolulu Zoo, and Wildcat Glades that offer educational opportunities to the public regarding conservation and environmental stewardship.
